Week 2 Edition of Holy Crap and C'mon Man

To say that week two in the NFL was exciting would be an understatement. Week one was exciting, week two was wild and the performances from teams and players just keep getting better.

"Holy Crap" Performances  (and there were a lot of them)

Cincinnati Bengals: The Bengals lost to a depleted Denver Broncos team on Sunday, a game they should have won, but although they lost, it was a very good game for the Bengals and here's why.

On Sunday we found out a lot about the Cincinnati Bengals and despite the heartbreaking loss, it was a "Great day to be a Bengals fan." We found out that QB Andy Dalton can play in the NFL and he is quickly making us forget about Carson Palmer.

In his first full game as a pro, Dalton was 27/41, 332-yds, 2 TD and 0 INT. He took control of the offense, made the right throws, didn't turn the football over and ultimately gave his team a chance to win the football. At the end of the day, that's all that really matters. I know it was only his second game and the Cleveland and Denver defenses aren't exactly the NFL's best, but Andy Dalton can play football.

So, can A.J. Green. 10 rec, 124-yds, and a spectacular TD catch. The Bengals had offers from several teams to trade down in the draft, but Cincinnati wanted A.J. Green and now we see why. Cincinnati did make mistakes yesterday, like going 1-11 on 3rd down, but they are one of the league's youngest teams.

I know the Bengals should be 2-0, but many people thought they would be lucky to beat some of the good college football teams this year. They are 1-1, tied for first in the AFC North and the future could not be brighter. As a Bengals fan, that's something to get excited about.

Buffalo Bills: Down 21-3 at the half to the Oakland Raiders, Buffalo rallied in the second half for a 38-35 victory. RB Fred Jackson chipped in with 15 car, 117-yds and 2 TD and QB Ryan Fitzpatrick threw a 6-yard TD pass to WR David Nelson with 14 seconds left, getting the Bills off to a surprising 2-0 start.

WR Kenny Britt, Titans: 9 rec, 135-yds, TD. Britt is off to a fast start with new QB Matt Hasselbeck.

RB Adrian Peterson, Vikings: 25 car, 120-yds, 2 TD from Peterson was not enough as the Vikings fell to the Buccaneers at home.

QB Drew Brees, Saints: 26/37, 270-yds, 3 TD. Brees conquered the Bears defense and helped the Saints avoid an 0-2 start.

WR Mike Wallace, Steelers: 8 rec, 126-yds, TD. Wallace and the Steelers rebounded with a win after last week's debacle against Baltimore.

QB Cam Newton, Panthers: 28/46, 432-yds, TD, 3 INT, Rush TD. The three interceptions are not good, but Cam Newton is the only rookie in the history of the NFL to throw for 400-yards in back-to-back games. Much like Andy Dalton, Cam Newton can play football in the NFL and he is only going to get better.

CB Charles Woodson, Packers: 5 tackles, fumble recovery, and two interceptions from Woodson helped the Packers beat Cam Newton and the Panthers.

QB Tony Romo and WR Miles Austin, Cowboys: Romo was 20/33, 345-yds, 2 TD and he came back to lead the Cowboys to an overtime win in San Francisco while playing with a fractured rib and punctured lung. Austin was big in the win too, 9 rec, 143-yds, 3 TD.

WR Vincent Jackson, Chargers: 10 rec, 172-yds, 2 TD. Good game from Jackson, but the Chargers lost again to the Patriots in Foxborough.

QB Tom Brady, Patriots: 31/40, 423-yds, 3 TD. Do you expect anything less? Simply outstanding.

WR Jeremy Maclin, Eagles: 13 rec, 171-yds, 2 TD. Maclin had a great game for the Eagles against the Falcons, but he had a key drop on 4th down late in the fourth quarter with Philadelphia driving to take the lead.

Atlanta Falcons: They survived the return of Michael Vick by not only knocking him out of the game with a concussion, but with great performances from RB Michael Turner, 21 car, 114-yds, TD and TE Tony Gonzalez, 7 rec, 83-yds, 2 TD.

"Holy Crap" Performance of the Week:
Detroit Lions: 411-yards of offense; QB Matthew Stafford played great, 23/39, 294-yds, 4 TD, INT; the defense forced six turnovers and a 48-3 embarrassment of the Chiefs erases any doubts about the Lions. Detroit is for real.

"C'mon Man" Performances

Kansas City Chiefs: In two games, the Chiefs have been outscored 89-10, QB Matt Cassel has been nothing short of terrible, safety Eric Berry and RB Jamaal Charles are lost for the season with torn ACL's and the season. Time to panic in Kansas City and the season is only two weeks old.

Baltimore Ravens: After what they did to the Steelers last week, there was no way they were going to lose to Tennessee. Wrong. I believe the Ravens will go as far as Joe Flacco takes them this season and, 15/32, 197-yds, TD, 2 INT from Flacco will not get it done.

Minnesota Vikings: A great day running the ball with Adrain Peterson, Donovon McNabb threw for more than 39-yards, the Vikings had a 17-0 lead at the half, yet they are still 0-2 to start the season.

Chicago Bears Offensive Line: Jay Culter was sacked 6 times Sunday against the Saints, bringing the season total to 11 and the Bears have played just two games. The line gave up 56 sacks last season and was suppose to be an improved unit this year, guess not.

Seattle Seahawks: A 24-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers may make the Seahawks the best college team in the NFL.

QB Chad Henne and RB Reggie Bush, Dolphins: Henne has been highly criticized in Miami and Sunday's performance did not help his cause, 12/30, 170-yds, TD, INT. Reggie Bush was suppose to get the bulk of the carries, well not on Sunday, 6 car, 18-yds and only 1 rec for 3-yds.

"C'mon Man" Performance of the Week:
QB Luke McGown, Jaguars: 6/19, 59-yds, 0 TD, 4 INT and a QB rating of 1.8. Jacksonville might be rethinking cutting QB David Garrard and there is a good chance rookie Blaine Gabbert gets the start at quarterback next week against Carolina.
