NFL 2012: Week 12 Picks and a Thank You for Carson Palmer

Thanksgiving is over and with 13 games still left on the schedule for Week 12, here are the rest of my picks.

Week 12 Picks (Home team in CAPS)

CHICAGO over Minnesota: The status of QB Jay Cutler is still up in the air, but whether he plays or not, I like the Bears at home.

Pittsburgh over CLEVELAND: Charlie Batch, who apparently is still in the NFL, will be starting at quarterback for the Steelers on Sunday with Ben Roethlisberger and Bryon Leftwich out with injuries. Expect a heavy dose of the run game for the Steelers and a very close football game with Pittsburgh ultimately coming out on top.

INDIANAPOLIS over Buffalo: Tough loss to the Patriots last week for Andrew Luck and the Colts, but I think they rebound this week against the Bills at home.

Denver over KANSAS CITY: With the first overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft the Kansas City Chiefs select...? It's been that bad in KC this season. Peyton Manning and the Broncos increase their lead in the AFC West with an easy win over the Chiefs.

Seattle over MIAMI: Seattle gets one step closer to the playoffs with a win in South Beach.

Atlanta over TAMPA BAY: This should be a really good ball game and I would not be surprised at all if Tampa Bay wins this one, but I'll take Atlanta.

Tennessee over JACKSONVILLE: The Jaguars almost beat a very good Texans teams last week, but the keyword there is almost. I think they will lose again to the division rival Titans.

Baltimore over SAN DIEGO: Baltimore makes the long trip out West to sunny San Diego and comes home with a win.

St. Louis over ARIZONA: Ryan Lindley, who is in his first year out of San Diego State, will be starting at quarterback for Arizona and seeing how he was 9/20 for 64-yards last week, I think I'll take St. Louis.

San Francisco over NEW ORLEANS: No one wants to face Drew Brees and the Saints offense right now with the way they have been playing, but defense travels and the 49ers got a pretty good defense. Also, Colin Kaepernick is going to start his second straight game at quarterback for San Francisco and I thought he looked really good last week. The Saints have a terrible defense, so they will have their hands full. 49ers win a close one.

Green Bay over NY GIANTS: The Packers have a lot of injuries, but I still think they are one of the best teams in the NFL. Eli Manning and has not played well the last couple weeks and I look for Aaron Rodgers to have a solid game as the Packers improve to 8-3.

PHILADELPHIA over Carolina: One of the most meaningless Monday Night Football games of all-time. I'll take the Eagles for no reason at all.

Carson Palmer has had almost zero success in Oakland going 7-12 since
being traded there on October 18, 2011.

BENGALS over Raiders: Here's Carson! Carson Palmer makes his much anticipated return to Cincinnati on Sunday and I expect quite a few boos from the Bengals faithful. I think Carson Palmer is a very good quarterback, who has just been in the wrong place at the wrong time. He's been on some very bad teams, which is a shame because he is a very talented quarterback.

Carson was a good player for Cincinnati, but he was never the same after suffering that ugly knee injury against the Steelers in the playoffs. However, that gave him no reason for quitting on the Bengals and leaving the way he did. As upset and mad as Bengals fans are at Carson Palmer though, I think we should be thanking him.

Had Carson not refused to play for owner Mike Brown, the Bengals never would have drafted Andy Dalton, who continues to get better each and every week. And because of Carson's poor play in 2010, the Bengals ended up with a top five draft pick, which resulted in WR A.J. Green becoming a member of the Cincinnati Bengals.

Andy Dalton and A.J. Green are going to be great players in the league for a long time and they would not be here had Carson Palmer not quit on the Bengals. Carson was fun to watch in a Bengals uniform, for a while anyways, but watching Andy Dalton and A.J. Green for the next decade is going to be ten times better. So, be mad at Carson all you want, but it is Thanksgiving weekend and you should be thanking Carson for leaving when he did.

Thank you Carson Palmer and good luck in Oakland, you're sure going to need it.

The Raiders are 3-7 thus far and are having an absolutely terrible season. The Bengals need a win to keep their playoff hopes alive, and I think they get it. Bengals 34, Raiders 20.

This Week: 2-1
Overall: 109-54
