NFL 2013: Week 14 Predictions

Week 14 Picks (Home team in CAPS)

JACKSONVILLE over Houston: The Texans have not only lost 10 straight games, but they lost 13-6, at home to the Jaguars two weeks ago. I'm afraid Houston will make it 11 losses in a row Thursday night.

GREEN BAY over Atlanta: Aaron Rodgers will not be returning for this one, but I still like the Packers to win at home against a dreadful Falcons teams.

NEW ENGLAND over Cleveland: The Patriots have Tom Brady, while the Browns have Brandon Weeden or Jason Campbell -- depending on who is healthy. Brady is better than both of them combined, so I think I'll go with New England.

Oakland over NY JETS: According to the Associated Press, Jets' head coach Rex Ryan gave QB Geno Smith and the rest of the rookies on the team an A plus grade for the season. Has Ryan seen the Jets play this season? Not only has Geno Smith struggled, but the entire team has. "C'mon Man!"

PHILADELPHIA over Detroit: This could be a shootout and with the way QB Nick Foles is playing -- 19 touchdowns and zero interceptions this season -- how can you pick against the Eagles?

PITTSBURGH over Miami: With the Steelers at 5-7 and the Dolphins at 6-6, the playoffs are on the line for both teams on Sunday. Pittsburgh needs to win if they are to have any chance of making the postseason. Miami needs a win to keep pace with Baltimore for the final Wild Card spot. In the end, I don't see either of these teams making the playoffs, but I do think the Steelers will win this one.

TAMPA BAY over Buffalo: Tampa has gotten hot, winning three of their last four games, and with the Bills 1-4 on the road this season, I think the Buccaneers will win. It's a meaning game, however.

Kansas City over WASHINGTON: RGIII and the Redskins are having a terrible season and a loss against the Chiefs on Sunday won't make their season any better.

BALTIMORE over Minnesota: Baltimore has climbed into the driver's seat for the final spot in the AFC playoff picture and they can't afford a loss to the 3-8-1 Vikings, especially at home.

DENVER over Tennessee: Hot weather, cold weather, rain, sunshine, or snow, Peyton Manning is one of the best no matter the circumstances. Whatever the weather forecast is for Denver on Sunday afternoon, Manning will play well as the Broncos throttle the Titans.

ARIZONA over St. Louis: Arizona can still make the playoffs with some help, but they need to keep winning. And I expect them to win against the Rams.

SAN DIEGO over NY Giants: Look up disappointing in the NFL dictionary and you will certainly find the Chargers and Giants logos.

Seattle over SAN FRANCISCO: Seattle is the best team in the league, in my opinion, and I think they will win a very physical game in San Francisco.

NEW ORLEANS over Carolina: The Panthers are playing great football right now -- winners of eight straight -- but I can't pick against the Saints at home. New Orleans, like Seattle, is almost unbeatable at home.

Dallas over CHICAGO: I have a feeling I'm to regret it, but I'm taking the Cowboys in this one. Dallas needs a win to keep pace in the NFC East; however, these are the kind of games they somehow find a way to lose. It will be a good game and I think Tony Romo will play well, maybe.

RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis had plenty of running room
last week in San Diego.

BENGALS over Colts: Big playoff implications in Cincinnati on Sunday with the winner will most likely being the number three seed in the AFC Playoffs. It's going to be cold and snowy Sunday afternoon and that favors the Bengals. In the snow, the team that is able to run the ball and play defense usually ends up winning the game. The Bengals have been running the ball much, much better recently and they run it more effectively than the Colts. Also, Cincinnati has arguably the best defense in the league and they are doing it without their two best players -- Geno Atkins and Leon Hall. If Andy Dalton doesn't make mistakes and the Bengals run the ball and play defense, they will win. I'll be at the game and it's going to be cold, but it will be so worth it. Bengals 24, Colts 16
