NFL 2013: Week 3 Predictions

Great week of football last week and here's to hoping it continues. Here are my picks for Week 3.

Week 3 Picks (Home team in CAPS)

Kansas City over PHILADELPHIA: Andy Reid wants a win in the worse way going back to the place where he spent 14 years as the head football coach and I've been impressed with the Chiefs thus far this season. I'll think they'll win Thursday night and sure enough, they did.

DALLAS over St. Louis: This could be one of the games of the weekend and the Cowboys should come out on top.

San Diego over TENNESSEE: Philip Rivers played great last week against the Eagles and even though the Chargers have to come east from a 1 o'clock kickoff again, I think they'll win if Rivers plays well for a second straight week.

MINNESOTA over Cleveland: What are the Cleveland Browns doing? Why on earth would you trade arguably your best skill player and former number three overall draft pick for a first round draft pick? "C'mon Man!" I understand that now the Browns have two first round picks and a stock pile of picks in the other six rounds to go after a franchise quarterback -- the Brandon Weeden project hasn't gone well and I can't say I'm not surprised -- but there are no guarantees that they'll find the next Tom Brady in the draft. Remember Tim Couch, Brady Quinn, Ryan Leaf, JaMarcus Russell? They were first round draft picks that ended up being total busts. Browns fans are upset and they should be, there are 14 games left and Cleveland has already thrown up the white flag.

NEW ENGLAND over Tampa Bay: Buccaneers QB Josh Freeman gets my "C'mon Man" of the week award after going a dreadful 9-22 for 125-yds, one touchdown, one interception and one lost fumble. Tampa Bay is in disarray right now with their poor play and a head coach unwilling to change his ways. The Patriots may not have whole lot of skill players for Brady to throw too, but I'll take them over the Buccaneers any day of the week.

NEW ORLEANS over Arizona: I really like what I've seen from Drew Brees and the Saints this year. The return of Sean Payton and the additional of defensive coordinator Rob Ryan had really made a difference. Cardinals will give them a fight though.

WASHINGTON over Detroit: RGIII and the Redskins are going to win eventually and with the Lions coming to town -- a team that hasn't won in Washington in over 20 games dating back to 1939 -- I'll take Washington.

NY Giants over CAROLINA: Both of these teams are winless, but barring a tie, that will change on Sunday. The Giants have turned it over nine times already and they rank dead last in rushing yards per game with 36.5. However, the Panthers aren't playing much better and I like Eli to lead the Giants to their first win of the season.

Houston over BALTIMORE: Texans' safety Ed Reed is a game-time decision for his return to Baltimore on Sunday and for some reason I think he'll play and play well. Players always seem to play better when the go out against a former team that let them go and you know Ed Reed wants this one. Not to mention the Ravens might be without Pro Bowl RB Ray Rice, so I'll take the Texans.

MIAMI over Atlanta: The Dolphins won there first two road game of the season and that's not an easy thing to do in the NFL. Atlanta has been hit hard by injuries and if Miami is for real, they will win this game.

Buffalo over NY JETS: Although I think the Bills will win, with both of these teams not being very good, this one could be close.

SAN FRANCISCO over Indianapolis: Even with the addition of Trent Richardson, I think the 49ers are going to come out and play well after taking a beating last week in Seattle.

SEATTLE over Jacksonville: The Jaguars are the worst team in the league, hands down. No further explanation needed.

Chicago over PITTSBURGH: I was not impressed at all with the way the Steelers play on Monday night against the Bengals and one has to wonder if their time as one of the best teams in the NFL is over. Bears in a close one.

DENVER over Oakland: Only a fool would pick against Peyton Manning and the Broncos right now.

BENGALS over Packers: Did anyone see what Aaron Rodgers and the Packers did last week? Rodgers threw for over 300-yards and several touchdowns last week against Washington and that was just in the first half. The Bengals are going to be hard pressed to stop Rodgers, but the key to stopping the Packers is getting pressure on the quarterback. Although the Bengals defensive line hasn't done a whole lot thus far this season, if they can get some pressure on Rodgers that results in sacks and turnovers then they have a chance. Bengals 28, Packers 27.

This Week: 1-0
Last Week: 14-2
Overall: 25-8
