NFL: Week 16, Merry Christmas

Week 16, only two games left in the regular season and after this year who knows when we will be watching the Bengals play football again. With a possible NFL lockout next year, these last two weeks might be the last chance most fans will have to see their teams play football. As a Bengals fan, that might be a good thing, but I would still miss them.

Even though this season has been a trainwreck, it really sucks not being able to watch them lose on television. Win or lose, I like to watch the Bengals and it has been hard not watching them play home games these last few weeks. It may take a Christmas Miracle for there to be football in 2011 and as a football fan that's my wish this Christmas. For there to be an NFL season in 2011 and for the Bengals to compete for a Super Bowl title, with special emphasis on the latter. I have a feeling that's a miracle not even Santa can pull off.

Week 16
Pittsburgh over Carolina: Carolina is on a one game winning streak and while the Steelers are on a one game losing streak. Don't expect those streaks to continue.

Dallas over Arizona: What a great gift the NFL gives their fans on Christmas. The 5-9 Cowboys against 4-10 Arizona. And it's on the NFL Network that no one gets. Thanks.

Jacksonville over Washington: QB Donovon McNabb has been benched for the rest of the season, in Washington, in favor of Rex Grossman and John Beck. That's the kinda move that will get head coach Mike Shanahan coal in his stocking for Christmas.

Miami over Detroit: The Lions ended their 26-game road losing streak last week against Tampa Bay, but a new streak will begin on Sunday against the Dolphins.

St. Louis over San Francisco: Someone has to win the NFC West, which is unfortunate, but true. I think the Rams have the best shot of anyone and they will end the 49ers dreadful season on Sunday.

Kansas City over Tennessee: The Chiefs are trying to hold off the Chargers in the AFC West and need a win to keep their playoff hopes alive and they improve their odds with a win over RB Chris Johnson and the Titans.

Chicago over NY Jets: Mark Sanchez and the Jets come things together last week to beat the Steelers, but I don't see the same thing happening two weeks in a row. Bears "Git-R-Done" at home.

New England over Buffalo: QB Tom Brady and the Patriots are going to have a very Merry Christmas, it will just come one day late in Buffalo.

Baltimore over Cleveland: Again, the Ravens will have a very Merry Christmas, the Browns will not. Browns RB Peyton Hillis started his breakout season against Baltimore, so they better be ready for him this time.

Denver over Houston: Both defense are pretty bad, in fact both teams are bad. The Texans got smoked last week by Tennessee and the Broncos could not do enough to help out Tim Tebow against the Raiders. Tebow will get his second straight start and I think he pulls it off. Denver has lost 5 in a row, but Tebow is a very special player and he will get it done at home and gets his first win as a starter.

Indianapolis over Oakland: Indy was able to hold off the Jaguars last week and can still win the AFC South. It's never easy traveling to the West Coast to play the Raiders, especially Christmas week, but Peyton will have his troops ready for the Raaaaaaaiders.

Green Bay over NY Giants: After the collapse at the Meadowlands against the Eagles last week, the Giants need a win to keep their Wild Card hopes alive. Green Bay gets QB Aaron Rodgers back from a concussion and that should help the Packers beat the G-Men on the frozen tundra at Lambeau Field.

Tampa Bay over Seattle: West coast teams traveling to the east coast is never good, in fact any road game for an NFC West team is bad news. Seahawks lose to the Buccaneers, but still have chance to make the playoffs at 7-9. Wow.

Philadelphia over Minnesota: The Bengals v. Chargers was suppose to be the Sunday night game, but with the flex scheduling NBC decided that Eagles v. Vikings was a better option. Don't expect Brett Favre to come out of nowhere and play Sunday. So, I guess NBC feels that more people want to watch the Eagles beat up on a Favre-less Vikings team, than Philip Rivers and the Chargers beat up on Carson Palmer and the Bengals. Makes sense.

Atlanta over New Orleans: Game of the Week. The Saints go into Atlanta as the defending Super Bowl champs as the Falcons can clinch the NFC South with a win. These two teams might meet again in the NFC Championship game, but first they have to battle it out on Monday night. The Falcons know the NFC South title goes through New Orleans and clinch the division title on MNF. Saints will still make the playoffs though.

And...
San Diego over Bengals: Cincinnati finally got win number three of the season last week against the Browns and that will probably be the last win of the season. The Chargers are one of the hottest teams in the league and with a banged up secondary, QB Philip Rivers will pick them apart. The young defensive linemen up front, like Carlos Dunlap, Geno Atkins and Michael Johnson need to get pressure on Rivers to help out the rest of the defense.

The Chargers also have one of the best defenses in the league, so that's not good new for Palmer and the offense. T.O. is done for the year after having knee surgery and with an offensive line struggling against the pass rush, Palmer is going to have a long day throwing the football. Which, if Sunday's game goes like most have this season, that mean's a Carson Palmer pick six. Should be fun to watch, not. Game will almost certainly be blacked out once again.

Enjoy the great basketball games Christmas Day, with LeBron James and the Heat taking on Kobe Bryant and the Lakers, go Lakers and Who-Dey. Have a very Merry Christmas.

Last Week: 10-6
Overall: 138-86
